About

I am a Senior Lecturer (~Associate Professor) in Computer Science at the Department of Computer Science at City, University of London and an Honorary Research Fellow at Imperial College London.

My research focuses on multimodal machine learning (i.e. machine learning across multiple signal modalities such as text, vision, and speech) and grounded representation learning on natural languages for applications such as multimodal machine translation, syntactic parsing, and grounding for language interaction. In the past, I worked on structured prediction using low-rank tensor-based models for natural language parsing.

Prior to joining City I was a Research Fellow at Imperial College London and University of Sheffield. I completed my PhD with Xavier Carreras and Ariadna Quattoni at UPC Barcelona while also visiting the Toyota Technological Institute at Chicago (University of Chicago) where I was advised by Mohit Bansal, Karen Livescu, and Kevin Gimpel. My PhD work focused on representation learning for modelling lexical relations.
